International arrivals to Viet Nam jumped significantly in May while the country rose to be among the most-searched destinations after international tourism reopened.
Foreign arrivals to Viet Nam surpassed 6.7 million in the five months of this year, up 27.6 per cent annually, the General Statistics Office announced on Tuesday.
International tourist arrivals in Viet Nam broke the 9.44 million mark for January-September, representing a 28.4 per cent rise over the same period last year, the General Statistics Office said.
Phu Quoc Island hopes to attract more than 1.8 million visitors this year, an increase of 25.5 per cent over last year, according to local authorities.
About 2.45 million international visitors arrived in Viet Nam, 19.9 per
cent higher than the same period of last year, reported from the General
Statistics Office (GSO).
International visitors to Viet Nam in August reached an estimated
665,000, surging 12 per cent against last month and 7.5 per cent against
the same period last year, data from the General Statistics Office
(GSO) revealed.
The Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) expects tourist
arrivals from five western European countries to increase by 50 per cent
in the next three years as visa exemption norms kicked in this month.
Viet Nam welcomed more than 6 million international arrivals during the
first nine months of 2014, up by 10.42 per cent compared to the same
period last year.
Nearly 57,100 international tourists travelled to Phu Quoc island in
Kien Giang Province in the first quarter of this year, up 33 per cent
against the same time last year.
The number of foreign arrivals in Viet Nam in March is estimated at
709,700, down 15.7 per cent compared to last month, but up 20.8 per cent
year over last year.
